The Values of the Ohio Patient Network PDF Print E-mail

Central to the Ohio Patient Network is the cannabis plant. It could reasonably be said that cannabis affects each person differently, but neither can one escape the fact that cannabis has predictable and desirable effects of its own. These effects are what have drawn people to the plant for more than 5,000 years. They personify the plant and in many ways represent universal human values, which OPN members hope to emulate.

We value:

- (C) Compassionate, caring community. Cannabis causes its users to be more introspective and sociable and, as a result, to be communally focused in a compassionate and caring way.

- (A) Accuracy, authenticity, and truth. Cannabis promotes understanding and insight from which an accurate and authentic view of truth should follow.

- (N) Non-discriminatory practices. Cannabis represents a useful treatment for a myriad of conditions and illnesses. It does not discriminate its benefits with respect to malady, race, color, creed, nationality, income, sex, or orientation.

- (N) Necessary Actions. Cannabis' action on the body is selective and affects only what is necessary, rarely damaging tissue or causing irreparable harm.

- (A) Amicable Relationships. Cannabis can make people more jovial, easy going, and friendly, thereby improving human interaction and engendering more amicable relationships.

- (B) Being our Best. Because of its medicinal qualities, cannabis helps people to feel better and, as a consequence, be better than they may have been before. By feeling and being better, individuals are more apt to live in a way that exemplifies their best selves.

- (I) Inspiration and Creativity. Cannabis can result in inspired ideas and creative solutions, which form the basis for a greater appreciation of music, art, and nature.

- (S) Sustainability. Cannabis has stood the test of time and provided sustenance to humanity in the form of medicine, food, cloth, building materials, and energy for thousands of years.

In essence, we are a (C) Compassionate, caring community that uses (A) Accuracy, authenticity, and truth, combined with (N) Non-discriminatory practices, to take the (N) Necessary Actions that build (A) Amicable Relationships and allow us, by (B) Being our Best, to utilize (I) Inspiration and Creativity to attain (S) Sustainability for our organization, the cannabis plant, and the world at large.
