Friends, In order for our efforts to be successful, we must reach out and build coalitions
with other organizations. I think we will find allies with the good people of
Equality Ohio.
Below you will find some details for the Equality Ohio Lobby Day on May 16.
For those who are interested in learning about lobbying, please consider attending
this event. Please note, they are holding trainings on various dates and locations.
You must register by April 15.
Peace,
Brandy --------------
Lobby Day is a chance to build bridges and meet face-to-face with the people
who shape state laws that impact our lives and families. The first Lobby Day
in 2006 was a tremendous success, and participants said they felt well-prepared
and that they made a real difference.
Quick Facts:
* Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Ohioans, their families, and
allies meet with state legislators from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
* Homebase is the Hyatt on Capitol Square, 75 E. State St.. (click for directions)
Meetings take place in legislator offices nearby
* Registration is required before April 15th.
* We help you prepare. Equality Ohio staff offer free lobby training in Akron,
Athens, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, and Toledo. (details about
the trainings). You choose your training when you register.
* During Lobby Day you won't be alone. A team leader will facilitate a group
from each legislative district and the team will lobby together.
* Appointments with legislator offices are set up by Equality Ohio ahead of
time.
* Please invite others to register and come with you. Bring supportive family
or friends.
* This is a family-friendly event. Children can meet their legislators and learn
about the process, too. There will be a family break room if you need it.
We do what we can to remove barriers for participants. This is one of the most
imprtant things we can do together to move the cause for equality forward. See
you there!
