The Emancipation of Frances James, Med MJ in Action
In October, my mother, a 74 year old elegant lady full of beauty, died due
to the effects of liver, lung and breast cancer. She first contracted breast
cancer in 1993. They wanted to take both boobs, put her on chemo and some god
awful drug I can't recall, but she did neither of the above. Using only natural
methods, she beat back the cancer for a dozen years, and back then the survival
rate was much lower than it is today.

SUPERVISORS ARE WRONG ON MEDICAL MARIJUANA
The San Diego County Board of Supervisors' decision to sue the state of California
in an attempt to overturn Proposition 215, the state's medical marijuana law,
is wrong in every possible sense: legally, morally and politically. The American
Civil Liberties Union intends to immediately intervene in federal court to protect
the many patients who legally use medical marijuana and to uphold the will of
California voters who approved Proposition 215.

Editorial: R.I.'s MARIJUANA LAW
A more humane society would not turn its back on suffering -- and, in some
cases, terminally ill -- people who find that marijuana eases their agony. So
it is good news, on balance, that the Rhode Island Assembly overturned Governor
Carcieri's veto of a medical-marijuana bill, to become the 11th state to allow
such use. That should give welcome comfort to some Rhode Islanders suffering
from, for instance, the rigors of chemotherapy.
