The Ohio Patient Network is currently looking for dedicated individuals to fill the following positions:
Director of Development Are you the type of person who would like to take an organization like the Ohio Patient Network to the next level? Do you like to network with influential people, and do you have the background or credentials to do so? Do you want to make a REAL difference in the lives of cannabis patients by helping OPN generate the funding that will get our message out to the masses, build a powerful statewide coalition, and end the prohibition of our medicine once and for all? Then you might want to consider becoming OPN's Director of Development. The Director of Development is an OPN board position. It is voluntary and unpaid. But please remember, there are more rewards than simply money. And, for the right person, success in this position could translate into opportunities at other non-profits both in our movement and elsewhere. A background in non-profit fundraising would be desirable. Knowledge of cannabis and the movement is important. But most vital are high ethical standards and a passion for networking and helping others. If you are interested, please forward your resume confidentially to Mary Jane Borden at mjborden@ohiopatient.net. Membership Coordinator OPN is looking to expand its membership services and needs a detail-oriented person to help plan this rollout, maintain a database, conduct regular mailings, network with other groups, and recruit new members. This position would operate under the supervision of the Director of Development, but would also interact with other positions and functions within OPN. Attributes necessary for success in this position include a pleasant can-do personality, attention to detail, and sensitivity to deadlines. A basic understanding of computer technology like databases and word processors is required. Like other positions at OPN at this time, this position is voluntary and unpaid. However, it might be perfect for the patient who may have extra time on his/her hands and wants to make a real contribution to the movement. If you are interested, please e-mail Brandy Zink at bzink@ohiopatient.net.
Chemical Bigotry Chair
One of the themes OPN is highlighting this year is Chemical Bigotry, defined
as the growing practice of discrimination against those who use cannabis as
medicine. Cannabis patients are being denied employment, threatened with the
loss of child custody, kicked out of pain management programs, and worst of
all, rejected from organ transplants. This must stop.
OPN has sketched out a program that includes research, media activism, and
direct action to combat this unacceptable practice. To maximize this
project's potential for all of us, OPN seeks someone with strong research,
analytical, and motivational skills to carry out its various components.
This project can be as little or as big as you make it. If you have an
abiding interest in civil rights and are now motivated to do something about
it, this may be the project for you. Please contact Mary Jane Borden at
mjborden@ohiopatient.net for more information. |
