Dr. Suheil Bushrui is a distinguished author, poet, critic, translator, and media personality who is well known in the United States, the Middle East, India, Africa, and the Arab World. Founder and first incumbent of the University of Maryland Bahá’í Chair for World Peace (1993-2005), he is currently Founder Director of the Khalil Gibran Chair for Values and Peace Project at the same University. In the last two decades, Professor Bushrui has devoted much of his studies to develop an interfaith curriculum, which has just been accepted for publication under the title The Spiritual Heritage of the Human Race (Oxford: Oneworld, 2008). In recognition of his outstanding work in this field, the Temple of Understanding, one of the foremost interfaith organization in the United States which is an affiliate of the United Nations, awarded him the Juliet Hollister Award in 2003. This year, the InterFaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington has decided to award him the InterFaith Bridge Builder Award.
The luncheon is an annual event, featuring renowned speakers addressing issues pertinent to the
Faith Communities in this city. This gathering will allow people of different faiths to share their traditions
and to celebrate their Faith diversity.
