The Ohio Patient Network will hold a Lobby Day for SB 74, the Ohio Medical Marijuana Act.
It is time for our elected officials to listen to their constituents and enact sane legislation that puts an end to the prohibition of a substance that is more benign than aspirin, a medicine that offers healing and hope to so many who have severe medical conditions that may have no other successful treatment.
The Ohio Medical Marijuana Act, Senate Bill 74, or SB 74 would protect patients like Randy Brush, their caregivers and doctors. SB 74, sponsored by Senator Bob Hagan (D), of Youngstown, would permit the medical application of cannabis to patients with qualified medical conditions under a doctors supervision.
SB 74 is currently stalled in the Criminal Justice Committee, chaired by Senator Jim Jordan (R) of Urbana. A hearing of patient testimony is needed to move the bill towards becoming law.
