OPN President John Precup is interviewed by radio station 610 WTVN during a March 2001 visit to the Ohio Statehouse.

Here's where it all began. On January 6, 2001, For a Better Ohio staged a medical marijuana conference at The Ohio State University. John Precup, on the right, discussed the medications he takes in addition to marijuana, while co-presenter, Eddie Smith from Kentucky, listened. After this conference, several activists started meeting regularly on the Internet and formed OPN.
